What the List Shows
Chips and AI account for much of the value, with Nvidia, Broadcom, Micron, AMD and Intel all in the top 20. The list also includes the newest giant, SpaceX, which listed on Nasdaq on June 12, 2026, and closed its first day with a market value of about $2.1 trillion, according to CNBC. Tesla is 9th at $1.49 trillion. Outside technology, Berkshire Hathaway, Eli Lilly, Walmart, JPMorgan Chase, Visa, Exxon Mobil, Johnson & Johnson and Mastercard fill the lower half, which shows how much of the value now sits in a handful of tech companies.
Adding up the 20 figures above gives roughly $37.9 trillion. The first five companies alone make up about $21.5 trillion of that, nearly twice the roughly $11.6 trillion that the 20 largest non-US companies are worth together. Palantir, at about $502 billion, is the first company just outside the top 20.
The race at the top is close. Nvidia leads Apple by only about $490 billion, and the order of the leaders can change in a single week: a Motley Fool ranking dated October 2, 2026 put Nvidia at $5.65 trillion and Apple at $4.87 trillion. The smallest company on this list, Mastercard, is worth about $521 billion, roughly a tenth of Nvidia.
Market values change every trading day, and data providers use different share counts and timing, so figures differ between sources. This ranking uses a single snapshot from companiesmarketcap.com taken on October 13, 2026.
