Barcelona lead La Liga with 24 points from eight games after a 3-0 win over Getafe, five points clear of Atlético Madrid and Real Betis, in a weekend in which Rayo Vallecano’s match with Athletic Club was abandoned.

Barcelona are top of La Liga on 24 points from eight games after beating Getafe 3-0 on Saturday, 10 October, according to Wikipedia’s table of the 2026-27 season, which is dated 12 October. Atlético Madrid and Real Betis are on 19 points, Real Madrid on 18 and Sevilla on 14. Barcelona have won all eight of their games, and the article describes an eight-match winning streak and an unbeaten run.

The weekend’s results, as listed by Sky Sports, were as follows. On Friday 9 October Málaga drew 1-1 with Espanyol. On Saturday, Alavés lost 1-2 to Atlético Madrid, Barcelona beat Getafe 3-0, Real Madrid beat Villarreal 1-0, and Rayo Vallecano and Athletic Club were level at 0-0 when the game was abandoned.

On Sunday Elche drew 0-0 with Celta Vigo, Real Sociedad beat Deportivo La Coruña 3-2, Real Betis beat Osasuna 5-2 and Racing Santander drew 2-2 with Valencia. The round ended on Monday with Levante and Sevilla drawing 3-3.

The abandoned game was the only one affected in the period, according to the Sky Sports listing, which shows the score as 0-0 with the word “abandoned” and does not give the reason or say how the result will be decided. The sources reviewed do not explain it, so Delima News does not speculate about the cause or the likely sanction.

Rayo Vallecano had a stadium issue earlier in the season. Wikipedia says the club faced a temporary stadium ban because of serious health, hygiene and safety concerns, which was lifted on 14 September 2026. The page does not link the ban to the abandoned match, and the two should not be assumed to be connected.

Raphinha of Barcelona is the league’s top scorer with 12 goals, according to the page. Rayo’s Sergio Camello has seven, and Kylian Mbappé of Real Madrid and Racing Santander’s Yassir Zabiri also have seven each. Raphinha’s total is five more than any other player’s, a difference calculated from the figures listed.

Three newly promoted clubs are in the league: Racing Santander, who are back after 14 years, Deportivo La Coruña, after eight years, and Málaga. Racing drew 2-2 with Valencia and Deportivo lost 3-2 at Real Sociedad this weekend. Valencia have also changed coach: Carlos Corberán was dismissed on 13 September and Javier Aguirre was appointed on 23 September, according to Wikipedia.

Barcelona’s start puts them five points clear of the chasing group, a lead that matters in a season in which they also play in the Champions League, where they host PSG on 20 October. Real Madrid have 18 points after eight games, six behind them, and are in Champions League action on 21 October against Leipzig.

The next round of league games will show whether Barcelona can maintain their perfect record, and what the league decides about the abandoned game at Rayo.
