Celine Dion fell backwards on stage during her Paris residency on Wednesday, then stood up, gave the crowd a thumbs-up and finished the song. The shows are her first regular run of concerts in six years, after a rare neurological illness forced her to stop touring.
Celine Dion fell on stage during a concert in Paris on Wednesday, October 7, and carried on with the show, Billboard reported.
What Happened
Video circulating on social media shows Dion moving across the stage while singing “Dans un autre monde”, one of the French-language songs in her current set.
She appears to jump and land awkwardly, with her heel possibly catching on her trousers, before losing her balance and falling backwards.
She was not down for long. Dion got back to her feet, gave the audience a reassuring thumbs-up and continued the song.
The Residency
- The fall happened during the 11th show of a 26-date residency in Paris
- The run began on September 12 and continues until October 17
- A further 10 performances are scheduled for May 2027
The shows mark her return to regular live performance after a six-year absence.
Why It Matters
Dion has spent the last several years living with stiff-person syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that she made public in December 2022.
The condition causes muscle spasms and has affected her ability to walk and to sing. It forced her to stop touring and to cancel planned concerts.
In her 2024 documentary, I Am: Celine Dion, she described relying on medication to function, and the emotional cost of hiding what was happening to her health.
Against that background, a fall on stage could have been alarming. Billboard described it instead as “a quick blip in the evening”.
Her Record
Dion has had four number-one hits on the Billboard Hot 100:
- “The Power of Love”
- “Because You Loved Me”
- “My Heart Will Go On”
- “I’m Your Angel”
