Freiburg and Borussia Dortmund top the Bundesliga on 13 points each after five rounds, two ahead of Bayern Munich, while RB Leipzig’s 6-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt was the heaviest result of the weekend.

Freiburg and Borussia Dortmund share the lead of the 2026-27 Bundesliga after matchweek 5, both on 13 points, according to the league’s table on Bundesliga.com. Freiburg have four wins, one draw and no defeats with a goal difference of plus 10 (14 scored, 4 conceded), and Dortmund have the same record with a goal difference of plus seven (11 scored, 4 conceded).

Bayern Munich are third with 11 points from three wins and two draws, a goal difference of plus 12 and the best attack in the league, with 16 goals, though they dropped points in a 2-2 draw at Augsburg in the round, according to a search summary of the results. Bayer Leverkusen are fourth on 10 points after a 4-3 win at Mainz, RB Leipzig fifth on nine, and Augsburg sixth on eight.

The results of the round, as listed in search results, were Dortmund 2-2 Werder Bremen, Union Berlin 1-0 SV Elversberg, Mainz 3-4 Leverkusen, Augsburg 2-2 Bayern, Paderborn 0-2 Stuttgart, Hoffenheim 2-3 Hamburg, Leipzig 6-0 Eintracht Frankfurt, Cologne 2-1 Borussia Mönchengladbach and Freiburg 2-1 Schalke. The league table could be read from the league’s site, but the results list comes from a search summary and not from a full match report.

Leipzig’s 6-0 win was the largest margin, and it leaves them with 15 goals scored and five conceded, a goal difference of plus 10, though they have three wins and two defeats and are on nine points. Frankfurt, who suffered it, are not in the top six or the bottom three listed in the table, so their position cannot be given from the sources reviewed.

At the bottom, Borussia Mönchengladbach have no points from five games, with seven goals scored and 18 conceded for a goal difference of minus 11, after losing 2-1 at Cologne. Hoffenheim are 17th with three points from one win and four defeats after losing 3-2 at home to Hamburg, and Union Berlin are 16th with four points from one win, one draw and three defeats after a 1-0 win over Elversberg.

Dortmund’s 2-2 draw with Bremen left them unbeaten with four wins and one draw, and Freiburg’s 2-1 win over Schalke kept them level with them at the top. The sources do not give the scorers.

The leaders are close in points but different in style. Freiburg have the better goal difference of the two, while Bayern, in third, have the best goal difference in the league with plus 12 and have not lost. The five-point gap between the top and the 16th-placed Union Berlin shows how quickly the table can change over the next few rounds.

Many Bundesliga clubs are also playing in Europe in the coming days. Bayern host Arsenal in the Champions League on 21 October and Dortmund travel to Sabah on 20 October, as Delima News reports in its matchday 3 preview, so the next league round will test their squads.

The next matchweek will show whether Freiburg can stay at the top, whether Bayern can turn their goal difference into points and whether any of the three teams at the bottom can get off the mark.
