Barcelona have agreed a new contract with Xavi Espart that will keep the academy graduate at the club until 2030. He joined La Masia in 2015, made his debut in the Champions League in March and became a full member of the first-team squad in August.
FC Barcelona have reached an agreement to extend the contract of Xavi Espart until June 30, 2030, the club announced on October 8.
The Deal
The club said the contract will be formally signed at its offices in the coming days, in the presence of president Joan Laporta.
Espart will speak to the media once it is signed.
His Path to the First Team
- Summer 2015: joins La Masia, Barcelona’s academy
- March 2026: makes his first-team debut under Hansi Flick
- August 27, 2026: confirmed as a full member of the first-team squad
His debut came at St. James’ Park, in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 against Newcastle United.
His Record So Far
- 2025–26: six appearances
- 2026–27: five appearances, one goal and two assists
The goal was his first for the club. He was part of the squad that won the 2025–26 LaLiga title.
Why It Matters
The extension continues Barcelona’s practice of securing academy players on long contracts once they establish themselves in the senior squad.
It comes at a moment when the team has made a perfect start to the season, winning all eight of its matches, and when a demanding run of fixtures will test the depth of the squad.
What Comes Next
Barcelona have not yet announced the date of the signing ceremony.
