Manchester City went top of the Premier League on 18 points from six wins after beating Liverpool 3-0 at Anfield on Sunday, 11 October, in a matchweek that produced 36 goals in 10 games.

Manchester City beat Liverpool 3-0 at Anfield on Sunday, 11 October 2026, and lead the Premier League with six wins from six matches, according to the competition’s table as listed on Wikipedia on 12 October. City have 18 points, three more than the defending champions Arsenal, who have 15 after five wins and one defeat. Brighton and Hove Albion are third on 13 points.

The win at Anfield was one of 10 matches played in matchweek 6, which ran from Saturday 10 October to Monday 12 October and produced 36 goals, according to a results summary on Vavel. On the Saturday, Arsenal beat Leeds United 2-1, Chelsea won 5-1 against AFC Bournemouth, Manchester United drew 1-1 with Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa and Brentford drew 2-2, Ipswich Town beat Fulham 2-1 and Sunderland lost 2-0 at home to Brighton.

On the Sunday, Crystal Palace beat Nottingham Forest 3-1 and Hull City drew 2-2 with Everton, in addition to City’s win at Liverpool. The round closed on Monday with Coventry City beating Newcastle United 4-1. The sources reviewed give the scores but not the scorers of these matches, so only the results are reported here.

The top six in the table shows how tight the race behind City already is. Behind City and Arsenal, Brighton have 13 points from four wins, one draw and one defeat. Brentford and Everton, both on 10 points from two wins and four draws, are fourth and fifth, and Chelsea, also on 10 points from three wins, one draw and two defeats, are sixth, according to the Wikipedia table. The table is dated 12 October and does not account for any later fixtures.

Erling Haaland leads the scoring list with six goals, ahead of Chelsea’s João Pedro with five and City’s Rayan Cherki with four, according to the same page. That means that two of the top three scorers play for the league leaders, which fits a team that has won all six of its games.

The three clubs promoted to the league this season are Coventry City, which returns after a 25-year absence, Ipswich Town, back after one year, and Hull City, back after nine years. They have had mixed starts. Coventry lost 5-0 to Brighton on 13 September but beat Newcastle 4-1 on Monday, Ipswich lost 5-2 to Manchester United on 30 August and beat Fulham 2-1 on Saturday, and Hull held Everton to a 2-2 draw at home.

Arsenal are the reigning champions, and the season runs from 21 August 2026 to 30 May 2027. The league has introduced a ban on gambling sponsors appearing on the front of matchday shirts this season, according to Wikipedia. Those facts are background, and they do not change the picture at the top of the table.

The next round of Premier League fixtures follows the European midweek, in which Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal are all in Champions League action. Delima News has published a separate preview of Champions League matchday 3, which includes City’s home game against AEK Athens and Liverpool’s game against Villarreal.

For Liverpool, the defeat at home to City is a setback in a league where City now have a clear early lead. One result in October does not decide a season of 38 games, but City’s run of six wins from six, with a goal difference that the sources do not give, makes them the team to catch.
