George Clooney has given a brief update on Ocean’s 14, saying much of it will be filmed in London and elsewhere in the UK, with shooting about 11 months away. He was speaking at the Albies, the justice awards he and Amal Clooney host each year.
George Clooney has shared an update on Ocean’s 14, The Hollywood Reporter reported.
“I think we’ll shoot a lot in London, a lot in the U.K., some in France,” he told the publication on Friday, October 9. “I think we start in about 11 months.”
“It’s a ways off, but the older we get, the funnier it is,” he added. “We start falling down a lot.”
Where He Was Speaking
Clooney made the remarks at The Albies, the fifth annual awards ceremony of the Clooney Foundation for Justice, held at London’s Natural History Museum.
He and Amal Clooney co-founded the foundation.
What the Albies Are
The awards honour people and organisations that have devoted themselves to the pursuit of justice, often at great personal risk.
They are named after Justice Albie Sachs, a veteran of South Africa’s anti-apartheid movement who survived imprisonment, exile and an assassination attempt.
This Year’s Honourees
- Kyrgyz journalists Bolot Temirov and Makhabat Tazhibek Kyzy
- Malawian girls’ rights advocate and shelter founder Vanessa Mwangala
- US war photojournalist Lynsey Addario
- The Congolese human rights organisation Justice Plus
- Microsoft president Brad Smith, as a human rights advocate
Clooney on Justice
“It feels like it’s in short supply, doesn’t it?” Clooney said, when asked why justice deserves a spotlight.
“It’s good to be here with people who remind us that there’s nothing normal about people not being treated fairly. There’s nothing normal about people not having their rights.”
He acknowledged that the honourees are not household names. Each of the well-known people introducing them, he said, “would be thrilled to have that light shining less on them and more on the people doing things to make the world better”.
The Guest List
Those attending included Brad Pitt, Laura Dern, Emma Thompson, Felicity Jones, Joel Edgerton, Josh Hartnett, Anna Wintour, Donatella Versace and Hannah Waddingham.
“George and Amal find them and fight for them,” Waddingham said of the people the foundation supports. “The stories that you hear in there are really breathtaking.”
