Blumhouse Atomic Monster has set out its full release schedule for 2027 at New York Comic Con, with new versions of The Exorcist, Paranormal Activity and The Blair Witch Project. The studio also named a director for its adaptation of the comic Something is Killing the Children.


The horror studio Blumhouse Atomic Monster has revealed its full line-up of films for 2027, The Hollywood Reporter reported.

The announcement came during BlumFest, a two-hour panel at New York Comic Con on Friday, October 9.

The list also included an untitled film set for August 2027.

A New Director

The studio announced that Craig Zobel will direct its adaptation of Something is Killing the Children, the comic by James Tynion IV and Werther Dell’Edera.

Who Was on Stage

The panel featured Mike Flanagan, James Wan, Chiwetel Ejiofor, David Harbour, LaKeith Stanfield, Curry Barker and Kristen Bell.

It included the first trailer for The Exorcist: Martyrs, and teased projects including Seasons, RoboCop and Molepeople.

‘More Chances’

The session doubled as a celebration of the studio’s two box office hits of the year, Backrooms and Obsession.

“Everybody has a different idea about what’s scary, and that is what I love about horror,” said the studio’s co-founder, Jason Blum.

“A year like we’ve had, with the help of movies like Obsession, gives us more opportunity to take more chances, and you’ll get a taste of those chances and risks and weird stuff tonight.”

Also Announced

Earlier in the day, Blumhouse and the publisher IDW Dark announced a Happy Death Day comic series. Writer Tim Seeley will expand the story of the time-loop slasher ahead of a third film.

Familiar Names

Three of the titles on the schedule, The Exorcist, Paranormal Activity and The Blair Witch Project, belong to some of the best-known horror franchises of the past half-century, alongside several original projects.
